Works of PACE Summer Session Summed Up

On June 24-28, the RA NA delegation to PACE led by Ruben Rubinyan took part in the works of the Third Part Summer Session of the Assembly held in Strasbourg. At July 1 press conference, the members of the RA NA delegation, My Step Faction Vladmimir Vardanyan, Tatevik Hayrapetyan, Sos Avetisyan, Hovhannes Igityan, the deputy of the RA NA Prosperous Armenia Faction Naira Zohrabyan touched upon the works done.

Tatevik Hayrapetyan has informed that the deputies of My Step alliance are already represented in PACE Political Groups. Ruben Rubinyan, Vladimir Vardanyan, Tatevik Hayrapetyan are represented in the European People’s Party (EPP), Sos Avetisyan - in the Socialists, Democrats and Greens, and Hovhannes Igityan – in the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Political Groups.

According to Sos Avetisyan, being represented in different political groups will give an opportunity to more effectively implement the lobbying of the RA pursued policy.

The members of the Armenian delegation to PACE made an initiative of the draft laws of a number of resolutions.

Vladmimir Vardanyan noted that the delegation of Armenia would act with all-European agenda, and distinct answer would be given to any provocation by Azerbaijan.

Naira Zohrabyan presented the item of the educational right of the population in the non-recognized states. To her, according to the UNESCO Convention signed in 1960, which ratified Armenia and Azerbaijan the fact of the state not being recognized is not a reason that the residents’ educational rights living in that territory would be violated. A relevant working group is designed to form in CoE, which will be engaged with those items as a defense for the students of Artsakh Republic.

Hovhannes Igityan noted that they referred to the political situation of Syria, the issues concerning the refugees and the problems of the Armenian community.

The members of the delegation also presented details about the debate of the item of recovering the right to the vote of the Russian delegation to PACE.
